Welcome. Come with all your questions, because none of them are silly here. Put in the work, and we'll show you exactly what it takes to pass.
See you in Hoffman Estates.

Illinois Public Adjuster Institute was created for one thing: getting you through the Illinois public adjuster license exam. We'll be with you from your first class to your license application.
A public adjuster works for the policyholder, never the insurance company. When a homeowner or business owner has a property claim, you handle it on their side and push for a fair settlement. In Illinois, you need a public adjuster license from the Illinois Department of Insurance before you can act, advertise or solicit as one, or even try to sign a client.
Our exam prep class teaches you exactly what the state exam asks, and when you pass, we'll walk you through every piece of your license application.
You pass the state exam, get fingerprinted, get a $50,000 surety bond, have your contract form approved by the state, and apply on NIPR. There's no required pre-licensing course, but the exam is 100 questions in 165 minutes and you need a 70 to pass.
That's why our class focuses on exactly what the exam asks. We'll also walk you through your application.
Once you pass, you apply for your license on NIPR and upload your bond and your contract form with it. The Illinois Department of Insurance won't issue your license until your fingerprints are on file, and your contract has to be approved before you sign your first client.
Your license runs for two years. To renew it, you need 24 hours of continuing education, including 3 hours of ethics, finished at least 30 days before your renewal date. Want your own adjusting firm? It needs its own license, every owner has to be a licensed public adjuster, and we'll help you with that as well.
On a home, no more than 10% of what the insurer pays, on any claim. For other property, the same 10% cap applies to claims from a disaster the Governor declares, unless the Director of Insurance approves more in writing. Your fee is figured on the net claim payment, so it can't include the deductible, and your contract has to state the exact percentage. We cover these rules in class. Compliance is key.
